Personal Care

The everyday things, done with dignity.

Personal care covers the activities of daily living: bathing, dressing, grooming and personal hygiene, plus help moving around safely. These are the tasks that tend to get hard first, and the ones people are most private about.

Our caregivers learn how each resident likes things done, then help with exactly that. Some people need a hand with buttons and a steady arm in the shower. Others need full support with transfers from bed to chair. Either way, it’s done patiently and privately.

Doors closed, one caregiver at a time when possible, and plain, respectful talk.

03

Independence encouraged

We help with what’s hard and leave the rest to them, so abilities are used, not lost.

Questions

Questions about personal care.

Something else on your mind? Call (612) 964-2222. Someone is here around the clock.

What if my parent only needs a little help?

That’s common. Care plans start where the person is, a reminder and a steady hand for some, more hands-on help for others, and they change as needs change.

Do you help with walkers and wheelchairs?

Yes. Mobility assistance includes moving around the home and transfers from bed to chair, with walkers or wheelchairs.

Is personal care part of assisted living?

Yes. Help with daily living is part of assisted living here. How much help each resident gets is set in their care plan.

Can my parent ask for a caregiver of a certain gender?

Yes. Tell us during intake about any gender preference, or cultural or religious needs, and we’ll plan care around them.
